Global Innovation ManagementThe Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology is offering a unique educational preparation in the field of global management and innovation for graduate management students. This innovative Graduate Certificate and MS Management Concentration reflects the school’s history of research and education in the areas of technology and innovation management, with extension into the emerging field of global innovation. "With the rapid expansion of global markets, managers are struggling to balance the paradoxical demand to think globally and act locally…They must be more literate in the ways of international customers, commerce, and competition than ever before." * Rooted in the economic drivers and cultural aspects of global business and management, the four courses of concentrated study being offered acknowledge the importance of trade for economic development as well as the potential impact of business on host countries. These courses also recognize the deep connection between global trade, technology and innovation. Technology and innovation enable trade through new communications and information technology applications, but they are also core value creation activities for many firms. Managing technology and innovation on a global basis is an intriguing and increasingly important challenge. Combining studies in global business and its responsible management with the specialized knowledge of technology and global innovation management gives students the opportunity to prepare for successful careers in a global environment for firms that compete on the basis of innovation in products and services. Whether employed by an international firm doing business in the U.S. or by a U.S. firm expanding globally, the Global Innovation Management student will learn for the future through engagement in stimulating and innovative course work taught by committed faculty within the Stevens environment of quality education. * Ulrich, D.
