“A Unique Opportunity for Students, Employers and the Business Community”
Stevens’ Business and Technology Program at the forefront of developing undergrads into savy business “integrators” ready to tackle today’s complex business challenges
Peter C Benedict, Editor The Stevens Indicator
The influx of varying and complex technologies within our organizations challenges companies to find better ways to bring people, functions and high-tech applications together in an effective manner. Translators, effective integrators, and those that fully understand both the business process and the application of technology within that setting, can significantly enhance an organization's performance.
The Business and Technology undergraduate program at Stevens Institute of Technology is a groundbreaking, unique approach to education. This unprecedented program prepares students to become:
- Skilled liaisons, experienced in the integration of business and technology
- Rigorously trained business planning specialists
- Learned in all three critical elements of 21st century success; business, technology and the physical sciences
Students who participate in this unique program will be highly sought after resources. Companies will likely find their future leaders in the Business and Technology students.
The Business and Technology program consists of core components in the following areas:
- Business core: The program utilizes case studies, guest lecturers and laboratory settings to demonstrate and develop critical thinking skills needed to solve complex business problems. All core business disciplines are included in the curriculum. Unifying the business core elements is the Business Plan Program Spine. The Business and Technology program at Stevens builds in unique continuity by requiring students to develop business plans from the beginning to the end of the program.
- Technology: Students learn about different kinds of technology mainly through the use of those technologies within the context of their business studies. For example, instead of separating the concepts of computer science and application development, the program teaches students how to use the latest technologies to deploy business strategy.
- Science: The program is designed to make sure that all our students have not just technology and business expertise, but also be armed with the specific scientific knowledge needed to compete in key global industry sectors such as pharmaceuticals and energy.
