Why Enterprise Systems?
Main-frames are the essential computing vehicle for the world’s largest, most influential organizations. They are one of the most mature, reliable, robust, and scalable computing options available today! Businesses can leverage these large systems to improve service, reduce support costs, and scale their e-businesses to meet incredibly challenging demands.
Main-frames are relied on today by banks, insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, and a range of manufacturers that run their most critical business on mainframes. Most importantly, the new mainframe is connected to the network, making it the ideal enterprise server environment. Organizations are increasingly relying on large systems to host their complex Linux, web server, and ecommerce environments. The flexibility, reliability, and robustness make large systems the optimal choice for many types of businesses. Technology managers, therefore, must have an understanding of the functionality and strategic technical values of large systems.
The IS Enterprise Systems Program, created in collaboration with IBM, provides students in the Master of Science – Information Systems Program with the opportunity to learn about large systems in the context of strategic IT planning. Students can also take a 4 course graduate certificate in Enterprise Systems.
The Stevens Information Systems Management program is a unique, 12-course sequence of courses that balances the requisite management and technical expertise necessary for today’s dynamic business and technical environment. The focus is on helping employees with strong technical expertise to be in a position to work more effectively and efficiently with their business partners. Many of our students are business people seeking to enhance their awareness of how to better leverage Information Technology in their firms.
With over 1,000 students currently enrolled, the MSIS is a recognized skill-building leader. Our faculty is distinguished and world-renowned. Most of the faculty has had senior IT executive positions as CIOs and Management Consultants. These IT leaders ensure that students learn practical, real-world insights that can be applied immediately to their organizations. Furthermore, with an entire group from the same company, we will gear the discussions to your industry and firm. Several of our MSIS partnerships have been in place for over ten years. To date, over 300 employees from each of these companies have enrolled.
