Why IT Outsourcing?

"Relationship Management and IT Outsourcing (MIS 652) is the one course that I put immediately into action. Professor Saltzman gave us the tools to unblock our futures by helping each of us focus on what we want to achieve, and giving us the tools to get out of our own way. Good relationships in the workplace help pave the way to success. They do not happen by chance. This course helped us identify our key relationships and develop action plans to achieve our goals."

Maria D'Andrea

IT outsourcing is a growing trend worldwide. Corporations need talented information technologists who can determine the need for outsourcing. They must have the ability to manage outsourcing relationships on an on-going basis, and to be knowledgeable in the best practices for IT outsourcing. Since IT outsourcing is a trend worldwide and off-shore outsourcing is occurring in many countries, this program has value in many global operations. The IT Outsourcing courses will also be of great interest to consulting firms and service providers. The IT outsourcing courses deliver a unique competitive edge to students.

The IT Outsourcing program provides students in the Master of Science – Information Systems Program with specific information about outsourcing and managing relationships with stakeholders. Students can also take a 4 course graduate certificate in IT Outsourcing. The four courses that make up the curriculum for a graduate certificate in IT Outsourcing cover the four critical areas that organizations must manage well in order to succeed in an outsourcing initiative.
•    Governance
•    Legal issues
•    Relationship management
•    Organizational development.

The Stevens Information Systems Management program is a unique, 12-course sequence of courses that balances the requisite management and technical expertise necessary for today’s dynamic business and technical environment.  The focus is on helping employees with strong technical expertise to be in a position to work more effectively and efficiently with their business partners. Many of our students are business people seeking to enhance their awareness of how to better leverage Information Technology in their firms.

With over 1,000 students currently enrolled, the MSIS is a recognized skill-building leader.  Our faculty is distinguished and world-renowned.  Most of the faculty has had senior IT executive positions as CIOs and Management Consultants. These IT leaders ensure that students learn practical, real-world insights that can be applied immediately to their organizations. Furthermore, with an entire group from the same company, we will gear the discussions to your industry and firm. Several of our MSIS partnerships have been in place for over ten years. To date, over 300 employees from each of these companies have enrolled.
