Karoline Glowacka joins Howe School Faculty

By: Sharen Glennon

Karolina Glowacka, PhD, joined the project management faculty of the Howe School. Karolina completed her PhD in Operations Research at the University of Pittsburgh, and was Post Doctoral Fellow at McGill University.

Dr. Glowacka’s research focuses on managing project uncertainty in task duration, work content and disruptions and supporting dynamic decision making in complex project environments. The presence of uncertainty is a significant and well known reason why projects are often late and/or over budget. By combining techniques from operations research and machine learning, she ultimately plans to develop project management decision support systems that are both powerful and easy to use. Dr. Glowacka is also involved in the development of a sketch-based project management teaching tool. The aim of this tool is to facilitate student understanding of various project representations and project progress visualization. This term, Dr Glowacka will be teaching the introductory course in project management.

Karolina’s office is in room 427 Babbio and she can be reached at 201-216-8935.
