Stevens named Center of Excellence in Business Process Innovation by SAP and IDS ScheerHOBOKEN, New Jersey (12 April 2004) ń Stevens Institute of Technology today announced that SAP, the world's leading provider of business software solutions, and IDS Scheer North America, the leading provider of business process excellence services and tools, have designated the Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens as a Center of Excellence in Business Process Innovation. Business Process Innovation addresses the definition, implementation, execution and improvement of corporate processes. It ranges from the graphical capturing and modeling of business processes to their automation using information technology. As a Center of Excellence, Stevens is a founding member of the collaborative SAP IDS Scheer Business Process Innovation Institute, a joint effort that will promote research into next-generation business solutions, to better prepare tomorrow's workforce and enable SAP and IDS Scheer to drive their customers' success by applying the latest research innovations to their software solutions. Dr. Michael zur Muehlen, Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Howe School, and coordinator of the Center of Excellence, explained the role of the collaboration: "The Howe School of Technology Management has an entire research program focused on Business Processes Innovation. We have collaborations with partner schools in Australia and Germany, which include joint projects, and student and faculty exchanges. The Center of Excellence label recognizes the practical relevance of our research efforts and provides us with a vehicle for communicating our research results to a worldwide audience." Dr. zur Muehlen, who leads an SAP-funded research project on the management of business processes, added, "This collaboration provides us with access to some of the best corporate research facilities in the world.
