Transforming Mindsets for Collaborative Innovation

Howe School Alliance for Technology Management

September 18, 2007, 1:30 - 4:30 PM (Lunch 12:30-1:30)

The next Howe School Alliance Roundtable meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 18th from
1:30-4:30 PM, at Stryker Orthopaedics, 325 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, NJThe topic will be:

Transforming Mindsets for Collaborative Innovation

This will be an elaboration of the topic discussed at the May Roundtable meeting, at which we considered a variety of “mindset dimensions” that often interfere with idea acceptance and collaborative innovation efforts.  The September meeting will expand on that discussion and demonstrate tools that can be used to understand and cope with mindset conflicts rooted in differences in goals, strategies, and values.  Participants will come away with specific approaches they can use with people and organizations impeding their innovation efforts, in order to engage them more effectively in collaborative innovation. It is not necessary to have attended the May Roundtable meeting in order to benefit from the September meeting.

Participants are asked to read three short articles (links below) prior to the meeting, and then to think about specific people and organizations that have hindered your innovation efforts.  Please come to the meeting prepared to contribute to a discussion of how the specific cases you have encountered might fit the "roadblocks" discussed.
